Two-word synonyms explained

For the purpose of this guide, we will be using the example of a one-way synonym from "green jacket" to "green blazer."

Let's look at two examples to clarify this:

  1. Correct application:

    • Title: "Slim fit green jacket"

    • Explanation: The words "green" and "jacket" appear consecutively without any intervening words. Thus, the synonym "green blazer" is applied.

  1. Incorrect application:

  • Title: "Racing green scratch jacket"

  • Explanation: In this title, the words "green" and "jacket" are separated by other words. Consequently, the synonym "green blazer" is not applied.

💡 How to resolve this?

To ensure accuracy and simplicity, it is often better to use single-word synonyms when possible.

Additionally, you should omit any words that do not need changing. For example, instead of focusing on the phrase "green jacket," you might only create a one-way synonym from "jacket" to "blazer."
