Understanding the discrepancy between total results and returned products
The total number shown next to “Results for [search query]” does not reflect only the total number of products. Instead, it accounts for all relevant types of matches found for the specific search phrase.
For example, as shown in the attached screenshot, there are 3 products, 3 categories, and 2 brands related to the searched query. Thus, the total number is calculated as follows:
3 products + 3 categories + 2 brands = 8 matches in total.
